Willi McGregor** (Whiteman) - Class Of 1963 VIEW PROFILE

Willi McGregor** (Whiteman)

Wilma "Willie" Jean McGregor
(Whiteman)

1945 - 2014

Willie passed away on April 22, 2014; one of Willie's best friends, Cheryl Spence, Class of 1963, who also passed away in August of this same year.

Born January 25, 1944 to William McGregor and Clarice Matz McGregor in Wichita Falls, Texas. Having been a Military Dependent since birth, she traveled with her family to many locations, ultimately meeting John Whiteman in 1961 at Yokota AFB, Japan. They were married in 1963, which-in-turn, led them on a fantastic 30-year Air Force Career. During their time together they were assigned to Okinawa, California, Michigan, Prague, Czechoslovakia and Woomera, Australia.

Of all the places they had been, their favorite place was San Antonio, Texas where they spent many wonderful years. After John’s retirement, he landed a job in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1991. Willie’s favorite saying was,” It’s always nice in a Casino,” and they lived a wonderful adventure while enjoying all that Las Vegas offers. Willi was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer’s in January 2004 at the age of 59.

She put up a great battle, while-all-the-time, maintaining that wonderful smile and sparkling personality. Like you, knowing Willie was a memorable and wonderful experience.

The Johnson High Alumni will miss Willie very much.
