William Schwartz** - Class Of 1966

William Schwartz**

William R. Schwartz II

1948 - 1982

Bill was born on March 29, 1948 and died at the age of 33 on March 21, 1982. We were notified of Bill's death by his younger brother, Steven Schwartz.

Steven Schwartz writes "I am a lot younger than my two older brothers, and did not attend school in Japan. But, I wanted to update you on my two brothers who attended Johnson High School.

Bill attended his sophomore year there at Johnson during the 1963-64 school year; then his junior year during the 1964-65 school term. I should note that he excelled in the sport of Wresting there, and was in the Falcon Newspaper, winning a gold medal in the Far East
Wrestling tournament. I see from the JHS yearbook that he was also on the Track team, that I didn't know until I saw the yearbook recently, on the picasa website.

For the following year (1965-1966), Bill went to El Rancho HS in Las Vegas for his
senior year, graduating there. Why I don't have any documentation, but I had remember my father saying that Bill went to the Nevada State championships for wrestling while there.

After high school Bill joined the U.S. Navy and did his basic training in San Diego, California in 1966. He was in the Navy from 1966 to 1970. During that 1966 to 1968 time frame, Bill was on the USS Randolph Carrier for the majority of his time, then transferred to the USS Enterprise Carrier (1968 - 1970) when the Randolph was being decommissioned.

From 1970 to 1982 Bill suffered from health problems that were related to his military service and he passed away 1982."

The Johnson High Alumni will miss Bill very much.
