Janet Sue Bedenbaugh Gibbons
1949 - 2011

Sue Gibbons of Gaffney, SC passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. Sue was born in Fort Worth, Texas, daughter of the late John Wallace Bedenbaugh and Margaret Thomas Bedenbaugh. Sue left Japan and started school at Limestone College, receiving her Bachelor's Degree. Sue then went on to receive her Master's Degree from Converse College and taught in the Cherokee County Schools for thirty years in Gaffney, South Carolina.

Sue was very active in her community; she was a board member for the Gaffney Little Theatre, was co-founder of the WINGS drama, enjoyed art and writing and was a member of the Business & Professional Women's Club. She was a member of Buford Street United Methodist Church where she was the worship chairperson, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, education chairperson, member of the Harriett Mays Circle and the Buford Street Bell Choir.

Sue is survived by her husband, Phillip R. (Phil) Gibbons, her son, John William (Will) Gibbons; a niece, Kimberly Southers and husband, Mike of Gaffney; a great-nephew, Cody Southers; a special godson, Christopher Martin Johnson and wife, Nicole Bold Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland. Sue was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Toskos. Family services were held on Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Buford Street United Methodist Church. -- Blakely Funeral Home & Crematory, Gaffney, SC
