Fayetteville, NC -- DENNIS KAY GUESSFORD, 27, of 202 Balsam Place, Spring Lake, died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in New York. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, he was the son of Kay D. and Mary E. Pike Guessford.

He served eight years as a crew-chief-observer in the US Army. He graduated from Yokota High School in Japan. He was a member of the First Calvary Division Association. He was a member of the Green Beret Parachute Association and the 82nd Aviation Division. He was a past member of the Boy Scout Troup 50 and the Order of the Arrow Mason Dixon Council.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Malia Weaver Guessford; one daughter, Rebecca A. Guessford, at home; one paternal grandmother, Jessie M. Hose, Hagerstown; one maternal grandmother, Edna M. Pike, Hagerstown; and four sisters, Debra M. Guessford, San Luis Obisbo, Ca.; Deidra L. Guessford, Denise M. Guessford and Deanna E. Guessford, all of Hagerstown.

Services were held at the Minnich Funeral Home. Burial in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Graveside Military honors were conducted by Fort Ritchie Honor Guard.
