Born August 26, 1943 in Childress County, Texas, son of Edward Hill and Mary Kathrine Williams Sr. Ed was the oldest of 7 children. The family lived in many places as they traveled with the military including Japan where Ed, a member of the Class of 1961 attended Johnson High School. Ed could always be found attending any one of a number of JHS reunions.

Ed leaves behind is wife of 46 years, Jean, his daughter Beth Morgan and her husband Brian, his son Ted Williams and his wife April and 5 grandchildren: Hannah, Noah, Hill, Reese and Nate.

Ed was a U. S. Army and USMC veteran and worked for IBM until retiring in 1996. But his real passion was for the Boy Scouts of America. From reaching the level of Life Scout himself, to leading his son's Troop, 165, where son Ted received the Eagle Scout Award. Ed achievments included working at the Boy Scout Camp Durant, to being awarded the honor of Vigil in the Order of the Arrow and the highest award in the Scouts, the Silver Beaver award. Ed was always involved in scouting, giving his heart and his time to an organization in which he truly believed -- Scouting.

When he wasn't helping out with Scouts, Ed enjoyed camping, spending time with his grandchildren, volunteering with the Women's Center of Wake County and vacationing with his wife, Jean.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home in Cary. A visitation followed the service at the funeral home.

Wade Walker - I received this message from Linda Loeb. Ed was a good friend and I hate (and regret this time of sadness) for his friends and family ...... This is extremely difficult news for me to convey. Received a message from Jean, Ed William's wife. Ed passed away at 10 p.m. last night Sunday, December 21, 2014.

Linda Loeb - Ed had been hospitalized with an onset of MERSA and a couple other complication's. (Sepsis) He had just been recovering from a heart attack. Of course he had kidney disease, on dialysis for years and was hoping for a transplant. He was quite a fighter. I knew it was more than highly possible his numbered days were short. I will miss my friend very much. Ed, you are in a better place now.
