Gordon W. Berry passed away on February 19 of natural causes at his home in Port Townsend, he was 82.

He was born on May 28, 1925, in Rainer, OR to Alfred W. and Ethel (Peters) Berry. He graduated from Silverdale Union High School and UPS in 1959 where he received his master's degree in counseling.

On August 6, 1961, he married Margaret Young in Japan.

For nearly 30 years, he worked in education at George Dewey and East High in Bremerton and DOD-Japan. Most of his career was in counseling at East High; he retired in 1980.

During WWII, he owned and operated Gordon's Inn in Poulsbo.

He served on the board of the YMCA for 7 years (chairman, 1968-69). He also participated in a civic group to bring funding for a community family counseling service. He loved to travel, cook, entertain and write poetry.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret in 2006. Gordon is survived by his son, Miles (Sydney) Berry of Renton; daughter, Cindy (Dale) Starkenburg of Bremerton; sister, Evelyn (Dick) Moroney of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Miles, Max, Marshall, Tiffany, Stacy and Jeremy; and great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Andrew and Kanon.

A celebration of Gordon's life will be held this spring. Memorial donations may be charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Woodlawn.
