NOTES FROM NAOMI
I’ve attended six JHS ALL CLASS REUNIONS in Orlando, Washington DC, Las Vegas X 2, San Diego, and the Bahamas. I always return from the reunions with an appreciation for history, friendship, and reliving great memories and creating new ones.
I attended the Vegas reunion in October and interviewed some of the alumni. Let me share some of their comments:
Rick wrote, “It is with a renewed sense of pride of being an alumnus of Johnson High School. I was so impressed with the people I met, but disappointed because I didn’t get a chance to visit with more people. “I walked away charmed, awestruck, and fascinated by the uniqueness of our life’s journey after JHS and Japan. I was captivated by some of the diverse and remarkable life experiences. We truly are an impressive, extraordinary group.”
Tracy stated… “Going to the reunion allowed me to reconnect with one of the best parts of my life… I appreciate what JHS did to make me the person I’ve become…”.
Charlie wrote, “When I was deciding whether to go to Las Vegas for the reunion in October 9-12, I thought about all the effort it would take to sign up, make plane reservations, and do all the rest of the things necessary to travel these days, and I considered not going. It would be so easy to just stay home with a comfortable daily routine. But then I remembered about how much Johnson HS meant to me and I thought of all the fellow classmates and teachers who would be there and about how wonderful it would be to see them again and see how they spent their lives. I went. And I am so glad that I did. Seeing some faces for the first time in half a century and remembering their names, and being remembered, was amazing. And even those people who were not in my class years were interesting to talk to since they had had experiences similar to mine. There was something special about our time in Japan and memories flooded to me by listening to all the conversations. Although we all have a little age on us now, if you didn’t know better you would have thought that we were still in the 1960’s! I look forward to the next reunion.”
It's been a while since the reunion was held on the East Coast. This is the area where my family and I have spent our summer vacations for over 50 years. We love coming here because the beach is my happy place, surrounded by the beauty of the ocean, and all the attractions, and activities available to us. The sunrises and sunsets here are breathtakingly beautiful.
Beach Cove is one of the most popular resorts in the area, featuring oceanfront suites and condos, the guests can enjoy the fabulous views of the Atlantic Ocean and all the familiar comforts of home including kitchen with utensils and cookware and complimentary Wi-Fi. Amenities are plentiful and include three indoor pools, Oceanfront whirlpools, lazy river all surrounded by lush landscaping. Indoor water features allow for relaxation in the whirlpool, pool, or sauna. Guests also have access to the Town Center, featuring dining state of art arcade and more.
Relax, enjoy, and renew your friendships with your high school classmates!
