Ed Babraitis - Class Of 1963

Edward C. Babraitis

Edward C. Babraitis of Redding, age 67 passed peacefully on October 18, 2012 with family at his side. He was born September 20, 1945 in Worcester, MA. Ed was well traveled as an Air force Brat, moving with his parents and brother several places in the USA and overseas to Germany and Japan. During the early years, Ed attended school in Sherman, Texas until his dad was transferred to Japan. Ed graduated from Johnson High School outside Yokota where his father was an air traffic controller and an Air Force pilot.

Ed returned to the States and attended college in Florida prior to joining the Air Force. He was in Intelligence in Thailand and honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. His travels also took him to places like England, Italy and Holland. After serving in the Air Force, he lived in Colfax and then Sacramento, where he trained as a computer technician, working for EDP (Electronic Data Processing). Through his employment, Ed moved to Redding in 1976, met his wife June in 1978 and they married in 1980. He was employed by Shasta County DP (now called IT), retiring after 27 years.

Preceding him in death were his father Major John Babraitis and mother Statia.

    Ed is survived by his wife of 32 years, June;
    Brother John (Kathi) of Burlington WA;
    Brothers in-law Dan (Judie) Davis of Kirkland WA, Richard (Linda) Davis of Tulelake CA;
    Sister in-law Patricia Morse of Fresno CA;
    Step children Tracie VandeVoorde, of Dairyville CA; Tommi Edwards (Nate) and
   Darcy Johnson of Redding CA.

Ed was Papa to grandchildren: Krystle Kirkpatrick (Andy) of Roy, Utah; Chanell Edwards of Redding CA; Jerremy Johnson (Megan) of Cottonwood CA; Cameron Johnson of Chico CA; Cierra McBroom, Mitchell Johnson, Trinitty Griswold all of Redding, Dakkota Johnson, Exeter and Kerregan Tudor of Red Bluff CA and four great grandchildren.

Anyone that knew Ed, could not forget his quick wit and sense of humor. We miss you Papa.
Ed was put to rest at the Veterans Cemetery, Igo CA.
