Robert Edwards**

Robert Marion Edwards

1946 - 2010

We received a note from Robert's brother, David Edwards that Robert passed away in February 13, 2010 in San Francisco CA.

Robert had a life that was a little unorthodox; he was one of the original Haight Ashbury hippies, arriving in 1965. Within a couple of years, the area changed and was over run by tourists. After this happened some of these hippies went back into society and others went to North Beach, which is another part of San Francisco. Robert stayed in North Beach for the rest of his life, calling it home. For a while Robert work for the U.S. Postal Service.

As brother Dave put it: "Robert probably had an interesting life. He told us more than once about meeting Sqeaky Fromm when she was in Haight Ashbury." Robert never married but he had a live-in girlfriend, who was part of his life for a number of years. She died a few years before he did; they had no children.

Dave put a memorial stone for Robert in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Here the stone is in the same plot as Dave's infant daughter, near their parents, which are buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Durant, Florida.

Robert was his own person and lived life on his own terms. He knew what he wanted, so I am sure he would be comfortable with others knowing what became of him. Being the kind of person Robert was, in the end, he gave his body to the University of California Medical School.

The Johnson High alumni will miss our friend, Robert very much.
