Gary Ware** - Class Of 1964

Gary Ware**

Gary L. Ware
1946 - 2011

Connie Ware, Gary's wife asked that we inform the JHS people of Gary’s passing. Gary was a member of the class of 1964; he and Connie had attended the Breckenridge reunion. Gary had been in poor health for a number of years, and Connie had ensured that he had excellent care.

Gary Leon Ware and Connie of Towanda were married for 44 years; Gary was getting along pretty well considering his many health issues, prior to the pneumonia. But, try as he might, he could not get over it and passed away June 19, 2011. Services were held on June 22, with many people attended and Connie said she was grateful for that. Their children sang and Steve played his guitar. They had a video of Gary's life with pictures. It was a nice service.

Gary was born to Donald Duane and Thelma Grace (McCoy) Ware, May 19, 1946 in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Johnson High School in Tokyo, Japan in 1964 where his father was stationed in the Air Force. Gary then graduated from Wichita State University with a degree in business administration. In December 1966 he was married to Connie Gale Miller at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Wichita. Working as a programmer analyst at NCR in Wichita, Gary enjoyed working with computers and was a trained weather spotter; he retired in 1991. Gary was a member of First Baptist Church, Towanda, serving as the treasurer for many years.

Gary is survived by his wife, Connie Ware; daughter, Shelly (Joel) Maleport of O’Fallon, Mo.; son, Steve (Esther) Ware of Valley Center; and grandchildren, Alison Maleport, Warren Ware and Emma Ware. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Ware and Thelma Ware, and his brother, Edmund Ware. A memorial has been established to benefit the building fund at First Baptist Church in Towanda.
