David H. Lown
1948 - 2008

We lost our Falcon on April 22, 2008, David age 60, peacefully passed away, surrounded by family and friends in San Diego, California. Born February 10, 1948, in Tacoma, WA and raised in Arizona, he traveled and lived around the world sharing his deep love of music, golf and life itself. After attending Arizona State University he moved to San Francisco, where
he became part of the historic music movement working as road manager for musical groups, including Santana, DEVO, and later for The Tubes and
Kitaro. He moved to San Diego in 1976. After years as a sole proprietor, the self-taught restoration painter established David H. Lown Painting in 1986 and oversaw the growth of a thriving and well respected business in San Diego devoted to quality. Over two decades he was involved in the revitalization of San Diego's Gas Lamp district; invited to paint select rooms for the Historical Society's designer showcase homes; and had the privilege of restoring and painting some of the area's most noteworthy residences and structures. He was especially proud of the painstaking restoration work he recently was involved with for San Diego's U.S. Grant Hotel. Above all, David was devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Toni, his brother Rhead and sister-in-law Ruth, his nephew Scott and wife Susie, and his mother- and father-in-law Margie and Richard Fonger, along with
numerous friends around the world. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 1 p.m. at Goodbody Mortuary, 5027 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made in David's name to Donate Life California, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving the lives of those awaiting life-saving transplants:
Donate Life California, 1760 Creekside Oaks Dr. San Diego CA 92110

The Johnson High alumni will miss David very much.
